A complete renovation is a big project — financially and emotionally. If the thought of it feels overwhelming, that's completely normal, and it's not always what's actually needed. Many apartments only need a partial renovation, focused specifically on what really requires attention.

When partial renovation is the right choice

If the apartment's infrastructure (pipes, electrical, structure) is in good condition, and what bothers you is mainly the look — dated finishes, an impractical kitchen, or one bathroom that needs updating — a partial renovation can deliver a real result with a smaller investment and without having to move out.

Partial vs. complete renovation

Partial renovation:

  • Focused on one or two areas (kitchen, bathroom, finish)
  • Often lets you keep living in the apartment
  • Significantly smaller budget and timeline
  • Doesn't fix existing infrastructure issues

Complete renovation:

  • Addresses every system in the apartment at once
  • Almost always requires moving out
  • Larger budget and timeline
  • A chance to properly fix infrastructure issues

What actually needs immediate attention

Our rule: infrastructure first, aesthetics second. If there are issues with pipes, electrical, leaks or damp — that's not something to postpone. Finishes, color and furniture can be planned gradually.

Signs of an infrastructure problem that needs attention: damp stains, recurring leaks, electrical shorts, old metal piping. If any of this sounds familiar, it's worth having us take a look — even if it turns out to be just a targeted fix.

How to prioritize on a limited budget

  1. Safety and infrastructure — electrical, plumbing, waterproofing — always first
  2. Wet rooms — the kitchen and bathroom affect daily life the most
  3. Finish in central areas — the living room and entrance, what you see the most
  4. Bedrooms and storage — can usually wait for a later stage

Our experience

We don't recommend a complete renovation to everyone — we visit, assess the apartment's real condition, and tell you honestly what's actually needed. Sometimes that's a targeted partial renovation, and sometimes complete really is the better option. The decision is always based on your needs, not on what's easier to sell.
